Project Details

If Lab Rescue were to win one of the $5,000 prizes, the money would be used to fund our spay, neuter and microchipping program for the labs brought into our rescue. To spay/neuter and microchip one dog costs Lab Rescue approximately $150. $5,000 would spay/neuter and microchip 33 dogs.

In the U.S. there are an estimated 6-8 million homeless animals entering animal shelters every year. Only half of these animals are adopted. Tragically, the other half are euthanized. Spay/neuter is a critical aspect to reducing the number of pets that end up in shelters.

Lab Rescue microchips each dog brought into our rescue to help increase that dogs chance of being found should it ever become lost. Microchips can be scanned by shelters and veterinarians and help reunite an owner with their lost dog or cat.

About Us

The focus of all of our efforts is to save Labrador retrievers in need, who in most instances face certain euthanization, from shelters, humane societies and owners who can no longer care for them; provide each dog with needed veterinary care; and then match them with a responsible permanent home. This goal is only possible with the generous support of donors who cover the cost of veterinary care and other expenses and volunteers who dedicate their time to transport the Labs, foster them in their homes and work with applicants to match families with adoptable dogs.
